Burt found his family on December 3, 2020!
Burt Macklin’s typical day is filled with two or three 30 minute play times and then lots of naps (he loves to sleep). He is only crated at night and when the foster parents are at work or the store. Burt typically gets free run of the home as long as someone is home with him.
He is very loving to people inside and outside of the home. Burt is not timid around anyone and will run up and lick everyone he sees. He has not had any contact with children.
Burt Macklin is very energetic and will run around the yard for about 30 minutes, jumping in leaves and biting twigs. He will require someone who can spend a lot of time playing with him and someone who can keep an eye on him. We have tried to work on leash training with Burt, he does not enjoy it. He will need continued practice with leash walking.
We have two of our own resident dogs and another foster dog. They are all 2 years and older. Burt gets along very well with them and loves to run and play with them. He sometimes has too much energy for them and will tire them out. He has never been aggressive with any other dogs.
We have one cat. Burt has not had too much interaction with her, due to her hating just about everything. She typically runs from him if he approaches.
At first Burt would cry and bark loudly when left alone in his kennel. He has made great progress on this and now is very calm being alone.
