Taz is a 1 year old mixed breed from Louisiana. She was on the euthanasia list and pulled hours before she was to be put down.  Taz was a part of a hoarding case that was brought into the shelter.  She is not bonded with any dog and can be the only dog in the house.

Taz is a bouncy, happy girl.  She’s the perfect mixture of energy and chill.  She loves snuggling up next to you or on you but is also ok if another dog pushes their way in.  If other dogs are around and want to play she is always game.  She is currently fostered with two other foster dogs and the resident dog of the house.

Energy Level:

Taz is a medium energy level dog. She adjusts her energy level to the energy level in the house.  She’ll happily snuggle up to you while you watch a movie. Or she will happily go on a 1.25 mile walk in the evening. She is a dog that can take a day off from walking and not be unmanageable.  She does not require multiple hours of exercise a night although if she has the chance she’ll keep up just fine for those of you that want an adventure buddy.

Training:

Taz has basic commands in her foster home such as sit, down, wait, stay, watch, and touch.  She comes when her name is called.  Taz catches on quickly and doesn’t mind the chaos of multiple dogs around her also learning commands and taking treats.  She’s a patient girl and waits her turn.

Taz is good on a leash and has her nose to the ground on a majority of our walk.   She will pull a bit to go sniff something but she has not done any lunging on the leash and she does not react to other dogs.

Taz’s foster mom and resident dog (American Foxhound) have started taking a nose games class, so we’ll start working on scent games with her too!  She’s a smart girl with a great nose!

Crate Training:

Taz easily goes in a kennel without any fuss for a chicken jerky strip.  She will either kennel up with her foster sister or by herself.

Potty Training:

Taz is 99% potty trained! Some would say 100% but I still like to keep an eye on her.  Taz gets that she has to go outside to do her business and does this every time now.  I’m still watching her to make sure she doesn’t start sniffing the floor inside and have an accident.  When outside Taz will go potty on command.

Grooming:

Taz is a short haired dog whose fur is similar to a lab.

Dogs:

Taz does extremely well with other dogs and wants to play with them.  She loves everyone in the household and has loved everyone she’s met on a walk. She may be a little standoffish at first but quickly learns that the dog is ok and will try to play. Taz is ok if another dog pushes her out of the way and is not aggressive.

Cats:

Taz lives with 2 cats, one super friendly, the other standoffish.  She likes to chase and try to play with the cat who is friendly.  The other cat who is more standoffish,  hissed at her and swiped at her so she now stays quite a distance from him.

Kids:

Taz has met a teenager and loved meeting him after being standoffish for a minute.  Taz seems to do ok with kids out on a walk.  But if they come into the house she will bark, growl and shake.  For this reason it would be best if she’s in a home without kids.  Teens may be fine but she hasn’t met many at this point.  She does ok with the neighbor teen.  When kids come over I just put her in a different room and she’s fine.

People in General:

Taz is a little shy when she first meets people in general.  Even when she met her foster Mom she was shy and it took a day for her to open up.  But once she feels safe she’s a bouncy, cuddly, happy girl that will bring so much joy in your life.

This girl is kind hearted and loves a good snuggle right by your side or on your lap.  She will bring so much joy to your life and be your perfect sidekick.
