Francisco is a sweet, spirited young dachshund who’s just beginning his big adventure in the city after arriving from Alabama. At only a year old, he still has plenty of puppy energy—he loves to jump around (go Badgers), explore, and can be a little mouthy when he's excited (he’s still learning what’s okay to chew on!). Since he’s a former stray, he isn’t familiar with potty, leash, or crate training. He sleeps in his crate while his foster works and sleeps and has been improving! Leashed walking also seems to be improving, he walks lovely for a while and when he’s done he will let you know by pulling hard.
City life is new and sometimes overwhelming for him, so Francisco isn’t shy about using his voice to let you know when he’s feeling unsure or scared. He’s slowly learning that humans can be kind and trustworthy, and he’s making progress every day with patience and consistency.
Francisco would thrive with an adopter who understands that building trust takes time and who can offer him a calm environment. He has some training in progress, but he has all the potential to become a loyal, loving companion with the right guidance.
