Updates

If you are looking for a very sweet, well-behaved, velvety soft puppy to be your companion, Bella is the one!  Of the 11 puppies in her litter, she is the smallest, weighing 20 lbs at 5 months old.  Her soft fur has tinges of brown, her feet have white 'slippers', and her chest displays a big white patch that looks like a pup on her back ready for a belly rub!  And she loves a good belly/chest rub. Bella is the best cuddler, tucking her head under your chin when she is especially happy or sleepy.  She is potty trained and uses 'sniffing' queues to alert us she needs to go outside.

Bella's day starts when we get up, which is pretty early, but she is easily adaptable on weekends when we sleep in.  We get her up to go potty around 5:30 am, then a small treat, and she sometimes go back for a nap for about 30 minutes.  Then she is up for breakfast around 6:30 am.  Playtime with toys and chewing a yak cheese or other hard chew keeps her occupied for the next hour or so until we are ready for the morning walk (about 20-30 minutes).

Bella has mastered the leash and prances proudly on her walks, sniffing here and there as her senses are open to a new world.  She loves running behind our resident dog, stopping at her sniff spots to see what's up.  She is not prey driven and observes birds, squirrels, and rabbits from afar.

After the morning walk, I allow her to free roam in one bedroom with our resident dog, and they happily nap while I am gone for a few hours.  She does very well and hasn't had any accidents since I started this about a week ago.  Her crate is in that room, and she will sometimes go in to rest and play with her toys.  When I get home, she gets a mid-day snack, usually a frozen kong with a plain yogurt-peanut butter mix that I freeze, or sometimes a pizzle or other non-rawhide chew.

She lays on a dog bed by my desk while I work in the afternoon, either chewing a toy or sleeping.  She sometimes will wake and come to me for a cuddle and sit on my lap while I work.  Then she gets down and goes back to her bed or more playtime—she constructively busies herself.  Before or after supper, depending on our schedule, she goes for another, longer, walk.  She eats dinner around 5 pm.  Bella hangs out with us on our deck while we eat supper or to watch the wildlife in the backyard.  Then bedtime about 9 pm after a final romp outside to potty.  She will cry in her crate for a bit before settling down, and we have allowed her to sleep in our room on the floor/dog bed instead (though sometimes she sneaks up on our bed to cuddle in).  She sleeps all night through.

Bella knows some commands:  sit, wait, come, leave it; we are working on 'lay down' and 'off', as she sometimes jumps up when meeting new people (not always), is excited, or wants to check out what's on the menu for dinner.  She has very long legs so can stretch far!

Really, she is just a love and so easy and chill for a puppy.  Our neighbors adore her.  She adapted very quickly to a sitter who watched her while we were out of town for 5 days and was a favorite in their household!  You will love her, too.  Come check her out!
