Myrah is a sweet black-mouthed cur mix, about 4 years old. She enjoys people and getting lots of pets and love.

Myrah is housebroken and crate trained. She rarely barks and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate and stays calm when we first get up if she’s not let out immediately. She can stay in the crate for a full workday. She free-roamed one day when we didn’t get her secured in the crate and she had no accidents or problems. Myrah doesn’t get on the furniture, although I’m sure she would love to if invited.

Myrah has medium energy, likes to be with her people, and is a good companion pup. We have 2 kids - 12 and 10 years old - and Myrah is great with them as well as any friends they’ve had over. She likes going for walks and lets the leash remain loose for the most part, unless she’s super excited at the beginning of the walk. When she sees other dogs, she’s curious but not reactive. She is very interested in critters, including any squirrels and rabbits she spots, but has become more easily redirected with the cue LEAVE IT and distraction.

Myrah is flexible and handles new situations like a champ. She had her nails trimmed at a pet store without a problem. She’s had several baths and doesn’t love getting in, but once she’s in the tub she is mostly calm. She’s been on a 5 hour car trip and was awesome! She mostly slept and was relaxed when the humans hopped in and out at gas stations or other stops, staying in her spot in the car. She spent a weekend on our family’s farm and practiced a lot of off-leash time. She stayed nearby for the most part when we went on walks, and had great recall to her name when we wanted her to come back to us. She loved to explore all the new and exciting smells there!

Myrah knows SIT and pees when cued to GO POTTY when we’re out on walks. She understands the general idea of STAY. She is eager to please and is a smart dog, but she’s not super treat-motivated so training strategies will need to take that into account. She does love peanut butter!

We have really grown to love Myrah and her sweet disposition. I anticipate she'll be successful in an apartment, a home, a farm, or whatever loving home situation she lands in.
