Luna is a 2-4 year old mixed breed from Louisiana (LA). She was on the euthanasia list and pulled hours before she was to be put down. Luna was a part of a hoarding case that was brought into the shelter along with Stormy and Taz. She was a Momma but is currently spayed. She is not bonded with any of the dogs and can be the only dog in the house. Luna has been in Wisconsin since September 20th.

Luna is extremely sweetest and very submissive. She’s independent and happily explores on her own. And she loves attention, pets, and cuddles. She loves snuggling up next to you but is also ok if another dog pushes their way in. She is currently fostered with three other foster dogs who she was with in LA and the resident dog of the house.

Energy Level:
Luna is a medium to medium low energy level dog. She is happy just hanging out at home and will play with her other foster sisters. She will also happily go on a 1.25 mile walk in the evening. She’s not pushy and just loves to be in the mix and she’s just a happy girl to do whatever is happening.

Training:
Luna is starting to learn basic commands in her foster home starting with sit. She comes when her name is called. She is learning what it’s like to live in a home and discovered the TV, stairs, and her reflection this week. Luna catches on quickly and is ok with everything after you show her it’s ok. Luna is sensitive to tone or you trying to grab her collar. She will either run away or cower to the ground. Luna will need positive reinforcement training.

Luna cowers a bit when you put her harness on and puts the breaks on when you try to control her on a leash. Once you open the door to go outside she’s happy to go for a walk. She’s great on the leash. She will pull a bit to go sniff something but she has not done any lunging on the leash and she does not react to other dogs.

Crate Training:
Luna easily goes in a kennel without any fuss. She will either kennel up with her foster sister or by herself. She does not bark or whine.

Potty Training:
Luna has has had one or two accidents in the house when she first arrived because she didn’t know how to do stairs off the deck and was scared. We spend a lot of time outside and are potty training her sisters so she has ample opportunities to do her business.

Grooming:
Luna is a short haired dog who’s fur is similar to a lab.

Dogs:
Luna does extremely well with other dogs and wants to play with them. She loves everyone in the household and is learning how to play with the resident dog (She speaks shy lab and he speaks loud hound). Luna is ok if another dog pushes her out of the way and is not aggressive. She is extremely submissive.

Cats:
Luna lives with 2 cats. Right now Luna is curious about the cats and is sniffing them out to see what they are. She is not trying to hurt the cats but is just very curious.

Kids:
Luna has met a teenager and loved meeting him. She has not met young kids in my presence.

Car Rides:
Luna does ok in the car and needs more practice. She lays down and freezes a bit. She doesn’t panic, bark, pant, or drool. She probably hasn't experienced a lot of car trips in her life.

This girl is so kind hearted and just a joy to have around. It’s fun watching her learn what the good life is and how to live in a house. She’s extremely smart and a quick learner.
