Greta

German Shepherd | Female | 6 Years Old | 75 Lbs

QUICK FACTS: ✔️ Good in the car! ✔️ Crate trained! ✔️ Potty trained!

Greta is an almost 6 year-old spayed female GSD. Her birthday is 12/24/2018. We adopted her as a puppy from Animart, and were unaware at the time that she was from a puppy mill. We were told that she was from a rescue. We were told that she is a mix, but unsure what with, and have not done any DNA testing. However, she does have many features of a purebred German Shepherd.

It is with a very heavy heart that I am searching for a new home for Greta. This is purely due to divorce, living situation, and restrictions on breeds. If I was able to keep her, I absolutely would!

Greta is very lovey, and very protective of her humans. She does bark at strangers, however, has been trained with a collar and is receptive to that. She will occasionally jump, but that is primarily because my teenage son likes to “dance“ with her. She has not had much exposure to small animals or small children, so I will not approve a new home with either. (Historically, she barked at adults, but not at children.) She would do best as an only dog, with other large dogs, and with lots of room to run!

She has been very successful at daycare and at dog parks, however, did recently have one non-provoked bite of a small dog when in the care of a friend. She has never done this before, and we are unsure what led to it, or if there was something that was unseen.

She has rarely nipped at people in her space, especially if they are somewhere she doesn’t feel that they belong. For example, if I was taking somebody on a tour of my home and they got ahead of me, she would try to correct them to not go into spaces before I did. She has never been truly aggressive or bruised or broken skin on a human. When she has controlled meetings of new people, she’s very gentle and respectful.

She is up-to-date on all veterinary appointments and shots, and those can obviously be provided. I am happy to give references of her veterinarian as well as her doggy daycare providers if people have further questions.

Please let me know if you have questions about my Greta girl, or if you think you would be the perfect home for her!
