Effie marks March 9, 2021 as her furever family!
Effie is a super calm dog who is always ready to cuddle and keep you company. She also likes her walks and playing in the snow. Effie loves to be curious and playful, too.
She does great with people both inside and outside her current home. She is gentle, rarely barks, and warms up to people right away. When she's on walks, she likes to explore and is curious about people. She never jumps on strangers and is calm when we pass them on the sidewalk together. Effie has no exposure to children.
Effie is a mellow dog. She goes on two medium walks a day and also goes out to potty a few times. Overall, her energy level is low-medium, but that is likely because she lives in an apartment building where there isn't a lot of space to roam and play. On a leash, Effie sometimes pulls, but always stays close to me when we walk on the sidewalk and across the street. She would likely benefit from living in a new home that has an open backyard so she can explore and play.
Inside the home, Effie is not living with another dog. Outside the home, however, she is very calm. If anything, she is curious and eager to meet other dogs. She never barks at them. She will sometimes pull me towards a dog she finds interesting but is always eager to meet the dog; she never growls at other dogs either. Effie has no exposure to cats.
When left alone, Effie usually starts to whimper/whine and wonder where I've gone. She definitely likes being in a room with people so that she can cuddle next to them and feel safe/protected. Based on experience, she would like to be left alone as little as possible. When left alone and not with her usual owner, she can sometimes get scared/nervous and occasionally has an accident.
Effie has a minor skin infection on her tail that is being treated with Chlorohexidine wipes and an antibiotic ointment. The Wisconsin vet noted some minor tartar accumulation. Adopters should anticipate a dental in the next 1-2 years.
Overall, Effie is gentle, loving, and so, so sweet. She loves cuddling the most and is loyal to her owner. She becomes attached to who she is with if they reciprocate and show her love back. Lastly, Effie enjoys meeting other dogs and new people.
