Bruno is a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog Mix (he is 53% Bernese and 22% Australian Shepard and 13% Border Collie). He is 3 years old. He lost his back leg at age 1-2, over a year ago, but you would barely know as he gets around perfectly fine.
Bruno sleeps on the floor of our room with us. He wakes up whenever we wake up. He doesn't need to go potty right away. He typically is let outside around 6-7am and is walked around 7-8am. He usually does his bathroom business on the walk rather than earlier on the leash staked in the ground. Eats breakfast around 7am. Likes to just be by his humans as much as possible, and one person cannot pet him enough for his liking. He has loved every human he has met. He would like pets from everyone, and begs for pets by putting his paw on you. (We are working on curbing that a bit.)
He likes being outside, loves the snow. Likes to hold his toys in his mouth when excited. Likes to chew on his collagen bones or chew toys. He likes to snuggle until he gets too hot next to his humans and then lays on the cool floor again.
He was on strict crate rest for 2.5 months while being treated for heartworm. The rest ended in early January. He can now walk and be active again and would highly benefit from exercise. He likes slower walks where he can sniff. Don't be fooled by his tripod status. He likes to walk and run. He used to live in a home with 2 cats and did fine. He has shown that meeting other dogs outside on leash with positive reinforcement works well and has met dogs inside the house and feels comfortable within a few minutes. He is comfortable and happy to go into his crate.
His previous owner said he was super scared of fireworks so definitely beware of that in the future. We have not seen any noise anxiety.
He is a dog who seems devoted to the humans around him and loves to be a part of their lives.
