Updates
Betty is a sweet, shy girl looking for her forever family!
Betty starts her day by getting let out of her kennel (where she sleeps) and going out in the back yard to go potty. After she comes back in, she will start asking for breakfast. Betty loves her food and she gets very excited to eat!
Betty lives with our two resident dogs and another foster, and she gets along well with other dogs. She actually shows a lot of concern for other dogs and always makes sure they are ok. She also takes a lot of cues from the other dogs in the house and having other dogs around has helped Betty come out of her shell and gain confidence. She likes to share the dog beds in the house with our other foster dog.
During the day, Betty enjoys lounging around the house, playing with toys, and taking breaks to run around the back yard. Betty rarely barks, and if she does, it’s usually because another dog is barking. We crate Betty at night for bed and if we leave the house. However, Betty is potty trained and doesn’t chew on things she shouldn’t, so she likely doesn’t need to be crated. That being said, Betty loves her crate and will often hang out in her crate by choice if we are home. Betty is learning to go into her crate on command.
We are working on teaching Betty basic commands (come, sit) and how to walk on a leash. She gets a bit nervous on a leash and will need some additional training with this. An obedience class would likely help Betty build her confidence.
Betty is a snuggler and would like to believe that she is a lap dog, despite being a bit too big to actually be a lap dog. She loves to put her paws on your lap, look at you with puppy dog eyes and ask for pets. Betty loves to be invited onto the couch to snuggle. Despite her shyness, Betty has done well with our rambunctious 2 year old.
Overall, Betty is a sweet soul and a great pup once given the time to adjust.
